A person may be charged with stalking if he follows, harasses, threatens, or engages in other conduct toward another person, knowing or having reason to know that his conduct is putting the other person in fear for his safety or the safety of his family or household members.
An individual does not have to have a preexisting relationship with his accuser for stalking charges to be brought forward.
After two convictions for stalking within five years, a third allegation may be charged as a felony.
