A 20-year-old Prince William County man who is facing federal charges of sex trafficking of children made his first court appearance in U.S. District Court Tuesday.
According to officials, Ramiro Espinoza-Jamaica was arrested last week on charges he abused and prostituted teen girls out of his apartment. He allegedly found middle school girls with problems at home and offered them a place to stay in exchange for sex. He is one of at least a half-dozen Northern Virginia gang members accused of running prostitution rings over the past year.
A 14-year-old runaway teen who was allegedly prostituted last spring told police that Espinoza-Jamaica forced her to work as a prostitute, providing her with alcohol before her sexual encounters.
He was arrested last May on drug charges and was sentenced in December to serve three months for possession of marijuana.
