A new law will take effect in July requiring anyone arrested and convicted of driving under the influence to have his or her vehicle equipped with an ignition interlock device.
The equipment requires the driver to blow into a tube before starting up the vehicle. Any reading greater than .02 percent will disable the vehicle from starting.
Convicted drivers will have 30 days from being sentenced to show they have installed the device in their vehicles.
